Topography

As well as detailed chemical information valuable topographical details can also be determined by utilising 3D Non-Contact Surface Profiling, a white light interferometry technique.

3DP provides quantified data such as surface roughness, peak height, valley depth and ratios between the two as well as coating thicknesses.
Issues such as:

  • Adhesion
  • Printability
  • Bonding
  • Paintability
  • Hole or deposit

can be affected by the surface roughness of a material. By quantifying the roughness and providing high-resolution 3D representations of the surface, comparisons between materials can easily be made.
