Failure Analysis

Failures can occur in any of the thousands of components used in the automotive and aerospace industries and can cause problems ranging from minor cosmetic problems through to total failure.

Techniques such as XPS, SIMS and 3DP have been utilised to investigate issues such as:

  • Glass failures such as defective windscreens
  • Electronic component failure
  • Rubber seal failures
  • Coating failures-bubbling of paints, migration/leaching of species, stains and discolourations.
